Behold the Risen Lord

Come behold the Living One!

Christ our King, the risen Lord!

Whom the grave could not retain,

He by Whom are quickened the slain –

Freed from sin’s power and deathly stain,

Born again to a living hope.

Who is like our Savior, the Living Word?

By Your vicarious death, the curse is undone;

The power of Death You have overthrown.

Sons of earth, from the womb to evil so prone,

Engulfed by darkness we hopelessly groaned –

The realm wherein we dwelt afforded no dawn,

Yet in willful defiance, to lies we deferred.

Like a seed You, Lord, were sown to the earth,

That plenteous fruit may be gathered at harvest,

And to Your praise be brought before the Throne,

There to be granted an everlasting rest.

Glory be to Christ, the precious Cornerstone!

You, Lord, are the Resurrection and the Life!

In glorious train, You lead us to life unending.

Let all the earth arise, Your triumph to proclaim!

You have conquered the grave, our souls to reclaim.

You are the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,

Lord of the new creation, preeminent over the living –

Ex-captives of the grave for whom Your blood was shed.

Who is like the Lord, our Living Head?

By Your wondrous work, darkness from us has fled,

And its emissaries are all filled with great dread.

You have done gloriously, You, who all things sustain.

You rose from the dead, never to die again,

And raised us with You to life everlasting.

By Your breath we have been brought forth –

Freed from guilt, healed from every pain.

Praise be to our Lord, the resurrected King!
